Capturing Community with Goldman Sachs

Client

Goldman Sachs

Challenge

To support a significant redesign of their global workplaces, Goldman Sachs real estate executives sought to develop a blue sky experience design vision built on a wealth of strategic insights. The design should apply to the 200 West NYC headquarters and be scalable globally, with the intention of galvanizing the firm’s high-performance workforce with every visit.

Opportunity

Reposition the workplace by artfully showcasing community knowledge, company culture, and leaps in innovation in bold, expressive ways. Leverage Goldman’s historical alignment with the arts to integrate on-brand, artful experience designs in areas that punctuate key moments of the guest journey, from first impressions in the lobby to high-touch executive environments.

Strategically-Rooted Themes

Through 27 stakeholder interviews across 6 Goldman Sachs departments, we galvanized leadership around a primary set of interrelated themes: Community, Culture and Innovation. Applying these themes to a set of strategic guest journeys across archetypes, spaces and time, we envisioned two bold concepts at a variety of scales and touchpoints.

A Spring of Knowledge

We designed The Spring around the idea of an infinite wellspring, a set of circular forms capable of reflecting back the Goldman community, surfacing cultural touchstones, and dynamically displaying the firm’s boldest impacts on its clients.

A Library of Expertise

The Stacks experiences suggest a sense of infinite knowledge generated by a legacy of driven, expert minds. The design elements evolve dynamically to mirror the community’s real-time expertise, showcase key cultural values with a change of perspective, and organize the firm’s impacts into an ever-growing design system.
